Mirza Shahzad Akbar took to social media to say he had been attacked

The advisor to the former Pakistani Prime Minister was the victim of an acid attack at his home in London.

Mirza Shahzad Akbar said he was attacked outside his own home which he shares with his children in the UK.



Mirza, who served as an adviser to Prime Minister Imran Khan, said that the emergency services were at the scene quickly.

The Metropolitan Police has been approached for a comment.

Writing on social media, Mirza said: "Last evening I was attacked at my address in England (where I am living in exile with my family) by unknown assailant/s who threw acidic liquid at me.

"Thankfully my wife and children are safe.

"However I got some injuries but nothing life-threatening. Police and emergency services arrived instantly and the house is being protected now.

"I will not be intimidated nor bow down to those who are doing this."
