'She was an angel trying to help,' the People's Channel presenter said

Watch the moment Martin Daubney blinked away tears while condemning an asylum seeker who was sentenced for life after murdering a British mother.

Earlier today, a Sudanese asylum seeker who stabbed hotel worker Rhiannon Whyte was jailed for life, with a minimum term of 29 years for his crime.

Deng Chol Majek stalked Ms Whyte from Walsall’s Park Inn Hotel to the empty Bescot Stadium railway station, where he then stabbed the mother 23 times with a screwdriver. She died in hospital three days later from a brain stem injury.

The convict was filmed laughing and dancing just hours after committing the vile act.

Speaking to Pink Ladies activist Aimee Clayton, Martin admitted these cases were "challenging to talk about", particularly when referencing Ms Whyte's son, adding: "Now, you hear about a six-year-old kid who wants to be a brain surgeon to try and save people's lives.

"He clearly has a full comprehension of what's happened to his mother... How do you get over that?"

Ms Whyte's sister, Alex, had told her nephew his mother had a "poorly brain" and had to "go to heaven", while the family continues to come to terms with the devastating loss.

The GB News host reiterated: "How do you come to terms with the notion that a mum who was working in an asylum hotel to try and help asylum seekers? She wasn't a problem.

"She was an angel trying to help. She's been brutally, savagely killed by an asylum seeker who's a compulsive and serial liar, a criminal, a psychopath, a scumbag.

"And Amy, time and time and time again, people like you Pink Ladies who are saying enough is enough. You're called racist. You're called a fascist.

"How are you feeling about this contemptible case today?" he asked.

Ms Clayton responded by saying she was "glad it was over".

She continued: "I'd like to say I was relieved for the family. But you can't be relieved when they're going through what they're going through, and they'll be going through that for the rest of their lives.

"This monster has been sentenced to 29 years. They've got to live with that forever. And I've looked into that little six-year-old boy's eyes and it's heartbreaking.

"Because there's the realisation that mummy's gone and mummy's gone because I think we've failed. This country has failed.

"We've failed women. We've failed Rhiannon Whyte. We've failed that boy. We've failed the family."

Calling on the Government to act, she declared: "This needs to stop. The Government needs to start putting the UK citizens first.

"The women, the children and the men. This is happening to men too. It's not just ladies and children that are being raped and that are being murdered.

"It's got to stop," she begged, appearing defeated.

Attempting to hold back tears, Martin urged the activist to "keep going" in her campaign.

He added: "I can hear the emotion in your voice. You've got to keep going. We're certainly going to keep going. Rhiannon Whyte. We've got to say that name. We're not going to forget that name."

"And we will be there to support Siobhan, Rhiannon's mother, and the rest of the family. We'll be supporting them all the way through for as long as she needs us forever," Ms Clayton vowed.
