GB News’s Home and Security Editor Mark White has delivered his agenda-setting analysis on another grim milestone for Britain’s migrant crisis.
Over 1,000 migrants have reached British shores via the Channel today with lifeboats “queuing up” to enter the harbour.
“Another grim milestone reached. This will be very difficult for the Prime Minister and Home Secretary knowing that 1,000-a-day crossing has been reached so early in the year”, Mark said on GB News.
“To get that so early in the year is incredible, really. It just goes to show what a significant crisis this is and attempts to smash the gangs so far are not working.

“The Dungeness lifeboat was called in to assist today because all the Border Patrol vessels and French vessels were tied up dealing with sightings.
“The RNLI had to be called out to assist as they dealt with boat after boat.”

Mark continued: “The latest count we have is well over 1,000 migrants that have crossed today. If it’s 1,100 today, that will take the total for the year to 14,700, more than 42 per cent up on where we were last year. That is a record since the Channel crossing crisis began in 2018 and it looks like a year that could surpass the record of almost 46,000 migrants who crossed in 2022.
“We’re well ahead of that at the moment and there’s no reason to imagine it won’t continue with the same ferocity that it has so far in the second half of the year.”

Mark then described the scene as three lifeboats queued up outside a harbour ready to unload crowds of migrants onto British shores.
He said: “Our producer in Kent told us that he saw back to back arrivals. That is the proof. The confirmation of these vessels unloading migrant after migrant.

“They are taken to the processing centre at Dover Harbour then to Manston in Kent and then places in hotel accommodation or local authority accommodation will be found for them, that might take a while.
“As we get into the summer, you will have back to back days where significant numbers cross the neck and you will see a bottleneck of getting these migrants out into accommodation if there is any available.”

One maritime security source said: "Authorities in France and the UK have simply been overwhelmed at times today.
"We've seen three French lifeboats and two lifeboats from the RNLI called out to pick up migrants from some of the small boats."
A GB News producer in Kent said he had seen "back-to-back arrivals" at the migrant processing centre at Dover harbour.
He said "Well over a thousand migrants have arrived today, probably more like eleven hundred."

That provisional figure is a huge leap on the previous one-day record of 825 migrants who made the illegal journey on 21 May.
The latest surge in migrant arrivals follows an improvement in weather conditions on Saturday.
Strong winds in the Channel over the past week had prevented small boat crossings.
Some of the migrant boats were launched from beaches near Dunkirk this morning, around the same time as a flotilla of 'little ships' set off to return to the UK.
Chris Philp MP, Shadow Home Secretary, told GB News: “Over a thousand illegal immigrants in a single day, boats flooding the Channel, Border Force stretched beyond breaking point, and even fishing vessels drafted in because our maritime rescue services are overwhelmed. A nation reduced to chaos on the high seas while Keir Starmer hides behind platitudes and process.
“Labour has completely lost control of our borders. Their pledge to smash gangs in tatters. They scrapped the Rwanda deterrent before it even began and now the boats won’t stop coming.
“So far, this is already the worst year on record. Labour have failed on every front, and Britain is paying the price. This is a day of shame for Labour.”
A Home Office spokesperson said: "We all want to end dangerous small boat crossings, which threaten lives and undermine our border security.
“The people-smuggling gangs do not care if the vulnerable people they exploit live or die, as long as they pay and we will stop at nothing to dismantle their business models and bring them to justice.
“That is why this government has put together a serious plan to take down these networks at every stage.
“Through international intelligence sharing under our Border Security Command, enhanced enforcement operations in Northern France and tougher legislation in the Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill, we are strengthening international partnerships and boosting our ability to identify, disrupt, and dismantle criminal gangs whilst strengthening the security of our borders."
