Deng Chol Majek was sentenced to life with a minimum of 29 years on Friday

The family of a mother who was killed by a Sudanese migrant has turned the blame on Sir Keir Starmer for failing to deal with Britain's migrant crisis.

Rhiannon Whyte, 27, was stabbed with a screwdriver 23 times by asylum seeker Deng Chol Majek on October 20, 2024, just three months after he entered the country.

The mother-of-one was ambushed following her shift at the Park Inn Hotel in Walsall, where Majek was staying.

After following her to Bescot Stadium railway station, Majek stabbed her more than 20 times, including 11 to the head. Ms Whyte died in hospital three days later from a brain stem injury.

Majek, who lied about his age when arriving on British shores, claiming he was 19 despite age assessment putting him between 25 and 28, was seen on CCTV leaving the station, throwing Ms Whyte's phone into the river, before walking to a shop to buy alcohol and return to the hotel.

He was then seen laughing and dancing to music in the hotel car park, swigging booze he purchased following the murder.

On Friday, Majek was sentenced to life with a minimum of 29 years, after denying the murder and forcing Ms Whyte's family to endure a gruelling trial.

Following his sentencing, Ms Whyte's family sent a scathing message to the Prime Minister.

"Let’s hope it never happens to you," Ms Whyte's sister Emma told the Daily Mail.

"Keir Starmer would not listen, he does not give a s*** about us.

"He’s the worst thing that ever happened to us."

She then suggested the Labour leader ignored many of the complaints about the dangers in taxpayer-funded migrant hotels.

"Nobody wants to listen to women," she added.

The family are now campaigning for tougher action on undocumented arrivals into the UK. Majek claimed he was a teenager when on British shores, although he previously told German authorities he was eight years older.

"We don’t know what the hell they're doing," Ms Whyte’s mother said. "Why are we allowing this to continuously happen?"

Mr Justice Soole sentenced Majek on the basis he was in his 20s at the time of Ms Whyte’s murder.

During the trial, Majek accused a forensic expert of lying about finding the victim's blood on his clothes. He also insisted it was a man dressed in identical clothing who followed Ms Whyte to the station.

Sentencing the defendant, Mr Justice Soole said: "With the greatest courage, Rhiannon had tried to defend herself against your frenzied brutality."

He continued: "The evidence against you, in particular from the CCTV and DNA was overwhelming, you continued to deny you were the assailant.

"You brought a weapon to the scene and used it in the murder; I am sure you brought it to the scene with the intent of murdering Rhiannon."

Turning to the Whyte family after sentencing, Mr Justice Soole said: "No words of mine can provide comfort to you and begin to the suffering you got through and your terrible loss."

Ms Whyte's mother Donna addressed Majek directly at Coventry Crown Court, saying: "My head is telling me I should utterly hate you, but my heart tells me my love for Rhiannon overpowers this.

"You will be forgotten as an evil nightmare."

She added: "Just one more thing: let me see you dancing now."

Ms Whyte's sister Emma said: "I honestly feel that calling you demonic and inhuman is justifiable in the circumstances. What are we supposed to say?

"You brutalised Rhiannon and then partied as if nothing had happened. You celebrated. You might as well have danced on her grave."

Earlier this month, GB News exclusively revealed more than 65,800 asylum seekers have arrived in Britain from France during Sir Keir’s first 19 months in power - meaning Sir Keir's small boats record is officially worse than any of his predecessors.

Shabana Mahmood vowed to end the use of migrant hotels after the first migrants were moved into the former army barracks at Crowborough, despite strong opposition from local residents.

"I will bring forward site after site until every asylum hotel is closed and returned to local communities," the Home Secretary said.

The Home Office has been approached by GB News for comment.
