Meghan Markle’s Archetypes podcast has been nominated for a People’s Choice Award.
The Duchess of Sussex’s podcast, which promised to investigate “labels that try to hold women back”, was launched in August with the first episode featuring tennis star Serena Williams.
New episodes were suspended following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, but have since resumed.
And now, the podcast has been nominated in the “Pop Podcast of 2022” category at the People’s Choice Awards.

The head of audio at Meghan’s organisation Archewell, Rebecca Sananes, posted on Instagram following news of the nomination.
Ms Sananes said: “#Archetypes is nominated for a People's Choice Award. If you like our show, please vote!”
Archetypes is up against the likes of Dax Sheperd's Armchair Expert, Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy and Not Skinny But Not Fat.
While other podcasts nominated include Anything Goes with Emma Chamberlain, Conon O'Brien Needs A Friend, SmartLess and Why Won't You Date Me? with Nicole Byer.
During the latest episode of Arhetypes, Meghan recalled auditioning for roles when characters “always had to have an edge or an attitude” in a podcast examining the trope of “the angry black woman”.
In an episode focused on gender and racial stereotypes, Meghan said she finds herself “cowering and tip-toeing into a room” because she worries about how her behaviour might be perceived by others.
During the latest episode, she was joined by comedians Issa Rae and Ziwe in discussing the challenges faced by women of colour in the entertainment industry.
Meghan said: “I remember when I was auditioning, the idea of even black roles, and I remember those casting sheets where the description of the character – she always had to have an edge or an attitude.”
Introducing the episode’s theme, she said: “This idea that a black woman must be angry when we all know sometimes things make you feel angry or sad or hurt or upset and that’s not a gender or racially specific feeling. Yet this trope of the angry black woman, it persists, and… it was being reinforced constantly in ways we hadn’t even realised.”
The winner of the People’s Choice Award will be announced at an awards ceremony at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.
