The Duke and Duchess of Sussex appeared at the UN General Assembly in New York this week, with Harry launching a thinly-veiled swipe at the Supreme Court's Roe vs Wade ruling that handed abortion rights back to individual US states.
He claimed it represents a "global assault on democracy and freedom" as he also hit out at Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
The reluctant royal said: "This has been a painful year in a painful decade. We are living through a pandemic that continues to ravage communities in every corner of the globe.
"Climate change wreaking havoc on our planet with most vulnerable suffering most of all. The few weaponising lies and disinformation at the expense of the many.
"And from the horrific war in Ukraine to the rolling back of constitutional rights in the US we are witnessing a global assault on democracy and freedom – the cause of Mandela's life."

But his comments have been met with fury in the US – and it appears that the Duke has unwittingly offended millions of Americans.
Broadcaster and author Meghan McCain appeared on Dan Wootton Tonight, and tore Harry apart for his controversial comments.
GB News' Dan asked: "I mean, this speech, where do we begin?"
Ms McCain replied: "Harry is a guest in this country. He is somebody who's not been universally loved, he's not universally liked and he's very controversial.
"Coming here in front of the United Nations and having a very deep misunderstanding of what our constitution is, it's a live document – the Supreme Court exists to vote and have many judges who analyse and discuss what they think is constitutional and not in the US.
"He has a very, very basic misunderstanding of democracy – and democracy in America.
"Again, he's not a politician. I don't really understand why Prince Charles and Prince Harry think they're politicians.
"We have fantastic politicians in this country. No one cares what he has to say.
"Absolutely no one except for extreme progressive wokesters. The very, very small minority.
"I found it really offensive."
Ms McCain then queried why the Sussexes have chosen to take up residence in the US, given their eagerness to condemn the society they find themselves in.
She continued: "I think they should leave if they hate it here so much.
"Why do you want to be here? If America is an 'assault on democracy' and the UK is this 'racist hellscape' you should find a country that is more fitting to your needs.

"This is not making fans of his. This is the second time he's trashed the constitution publicly – he did it on a podcast last year.
"Again, I just don't really understand. If you're a guest in a country seeking political asylum from your 'horrible' home country, why you would come here and trash our freedoms that we all hold so dear here?
"He doesn't understand democracy in America at all."
She wasn't the only one upset by their appearance in New York on Nelson Mandela Day, either.
As protesters lined the streets outside, one placard read: "Mandela spent 27 years behind bars in SA.
"Markle spent 18 months in castles and complained on TV during a pandemic.
"Why are they here?"
