Chiefs say the range is made from recycled polyester

A major change in the McDonald's uniform has caused anger as employees slam the new sustainable designs as "woke".

The fast food chain is set to trial the uniform of jogging bottoms and beanies over the coming weeks.

Chiefs say the range is made from recycled polyester and designed to be "comfortable".

The bright T-shirts, bandanas and jeans are part of its "inclusive" uniform to allow employees to wear clothing they "feel most comfortable in" to reflect their "own identity".

It is the first time McDonald’s has changed its uniform since 2016.

The new clothing range is expected to be introduced across branches in early 2025.

But the idea has already been slammed by staff members.

"It all feels very woke," one employee told The Sun.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

"If I was forced to wear it, I’d walk out.

"And I’m pretty sure most of my colleagues would too.

"People will be discouraged from working there.

"It changes the look to a more urban style which doesn’t suit the brand at all."

"I just don’t understand it. I think they’re trying to be more like Five Guys and copy them - they’re sacrificing practicality for style."

James Thorne, chief people officer at McDonald’s UK and Ireland, said: "Our people are at the heart of everything we do, so I’m really excited to get their feedback on what we think is a fantastic range.

"The collection will give team members the opportunity to really create a look that reflects who they are – while still absolutely looking and feeling like part of the team.

"Combined with the fact that the collection has been designed with the circular economy in mind and is made from recycled or sustainable materials - it’s a collection that we know our people will feel proud to wear."
