But for some, shedding pounds can happen as a side effect of broader lifestyle changes, especially when habits like teetotalism are implemented.

She eventually complemented this change with weight lifting and a higher protein intake, further enhancing her weight loss.

According to India, simple habits like eating more protein are easier to implement than cutting out entire food groups.
“I’m going to give you my secret sauce for weight loss,” she declared in a recent clip.
“While weight loss was not my goal, it was a byproduct of me quitting drinking, so that’s number one, I quit drinking alcohol, I need to quit drinking alcohol. Quitting alcohol kind of kick-started everything else.”

By increasing her protein intake, India was able to continue enjoying the foods she’d always enjoyed.
This is down to protein increasing satiety, raising the body’s calorie-burning metabolism and preserving lean muscle mass.
“I didn’t cut out anything, I allowed myself the sweet treats, I allowed myself the bread, but I tried to eat more protein,” she said.
“The more protein you eat, the fuller you are, and it helps you build muscle. Protein is so good for you, and it’s such an easy thing to wrap your head around mentally.”
Third on India's list of hacks is weight lifting, considered superior in the fitness world due to its ability to build metabolism-boosting muscle.
It also promotes fat loss, maintains lean muscle mass and burns calories both during and after workouts.
“Weight lifting is truly life-changing," India declared. "You’ve never seen your body as good as it can look until you’ve tried weight lifting.

“You don’t even have to put that much time into it, 15 to 30 minutes three days a week is all you need, lifting heavy weights in the gym, and it will change your body composition.
Combining the three straightforward changes helped India shed 50lbs, but she also added some walking to complement the gym sessions.
“Give it a try and mix it with some walking, those three things helped me lose the 50lbs with really very little effort,” she said.
India stressed that dramatic results don’t always require punishing workouts or giving up the foods you love. Sometimes, all it takes is quitting alcohol, and the rest follows.
