The pair were discussing Ed Miliband’s controversial GB Energy

Watch as Martin Daubney comes to verbal blows with former Extinction Rebellion spokesman Dr Rupert Read in a furious row on GB News.

The pair were discussing Ed Miliband’s controversial GB Energy, which has been given Parliamentary backing.

Martin grilled Read on when we can expect to see lower energy bills - adding it was “promised”.

Read accused Martin of having an agenda, pointing to GB News as an institution.

“The energy companies are ripping us off”, he said.

“Rather than criticise renewable energy, go to the companies ripping off ordinary taxpayers.”

Martin said: “Let’s think about that. Chris O’Shea is the CEO of Centrica, British Gas’ parent company. He said today ‘net zero will definitely not reduce the price of electricity’.”

Read said Centrica is not likely to “tell the truth” as they are one of the companies he refers to, before he took a swipe at the People’s Channel.

“GB News isn’t going to tell you truth”, he said.

“Stop playing the man and play the ball”, Martin hit back. “People care about cheap energy. We were told our bills would be £300 better off by Ed Miliband at the election and they are going up, up and up.

“The zealotry is one thing but things aren’t getting any cheaper. That’s what people care about.”

“Your bias is very obvious. You’re playing to the tune your bosses want you to play”, Read hit back.

“I come on this channel quite often and every time it’s the same story. Every single time you slag off renewable energy and cheer for fossil fuels.

“Could that be to do with GB News being owned by fossil fuel magnets?”

Martin fumed “It’s nothing to do with that”, adding “you were a strategist for Extinction Rebellion. We know your agenda.

“We were promised cheaper energy by you lot, by Ed Miliband, we haven’t got it.

“Don’t have a go at me, don’t have a go at GB News. Where is the evidence to deliver on the promise you lot made?”

Read hit back, saying Martin is a “hypocrite” for reversing the personal attacks.

“You started the game, mate. It takes two to tango”, said Martin.

Read argued: “Your channel has no integrity. You have no integrity”, before Martin accused him of being unable to answer the question.

“Renewable energy is consistently the cheapest form of energy in this country. Wind is the cheapest by far”, he said.

“Nuclear is way more expensive and fossil is way more expensive.”

“When do our bills go down then?”, Daubney responded. He continued: “Next year? Next decade? Before unicorns fly?”

The Great British Energy Bill has now passed through Parliament, establishing the UK's state-backed energy firm despite opposition criticism.

Conservative shadow energy security secretary Claire Coutinho lambasted the bill for its brevity, saying: "This Bill is four pages long.

There's barely anything in it."

Meanwhile, GB Energy has announced its first major investment, with £8.5 million allocated to install solar panels at hospitals in the Humber region.

This forms part of the government's broader renewable energy strategy.

Energy Secretary Ed Miliband visited a solar farm in Hull that powers Castle Hill Hospital, praising the innovation that saves the facility £200,000 monthly on energy bills.

"By investing in solar panels for public services, we put more money into our public services," Miliband explained during his Hull visit, reiterating his belief that GB Energy will help Britain become a "clean energy superpower" despite ongoing debates about renewable energy costs.
