A plane taking off from Manchester has been forced to make an emergency landing to remove a "disruptive" passenger.

The flight bound for Corfu in Greece was diverted to Milan, where the man was ultimately "dragged off" the easyJet flight on Wednesday.

An eyewitness said a stewardess had to restrain the man who was "wobbling backwards and forwards" in his seat, not long after the plane left.

After arriving in Milan, a passenger took a video who showed police officers dragging the man off the flight.

A woman holding a bottle of vodka was also escorted off the plane, however that was not caught on film.

One passenger said the flight was "about halfway through" when there was a "little bit of obstruction at the back".

"The stewardess was spending a lot of time back there, to the point she wasn't leaving his side," the passenger said.

"The captain came over the intercom saying they were going to make an emergency landing because of disorderly conduct and that there was an incident."

The passenger said the stewardess was keeping the man in his seat as he was "wobbling backwards and forwards".

"Police came on in Milan and two officers struggled to get him out of his seat," the passenger told the Manchester Evening News.

"He was on the floor and they dragged him along."

The man was then put into cuffs as he clung to the staircase.

"The police cars were on the tarmac for a good 30 to 40 minutes," the passenger added.

The officers then escorted the woman off "with a bottle of vodka in her hand".

The flight set off for Corfu after a 90-minute wait on the tarmac.

An easyJet spokesman said: "Flight EZY2061 from Manchester to Corfu on 24 September diverted to Milan and was met by police due to the disruptive behaviour of a customer onboard."

"The flight then continued to Corfu," the spokesman added.

"Our cabin crew are trained to assess all situations and to act quickly and appropriately, to ensure that the safety of the flight and other customers is not compromised at any time."

The spokesman said the company took the incidents seriously and "do not tolerate disruptive behaviour onboard".

"The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is always easyJet's highest priority," he said.
