A mother-of-five became a millionaire after buying a National Lottery ticket

A Euromillions winner has explained her strong feelings after cashing in on a fortune.

Ceri Ann Roscoe-Roberts, 42, from Banger in North Wales, took her phone off her bedside table and purchased a EuroMillions ticket online.

The mother-of-five celebrated becoming a millionaire 24 hours later.

Roberts forgot she purchased a ticket for that Friday’s Euromillions.

However, she felt certain she won the prize pot the following morning.

Roberts said: “There was just something telling me when I woke on Saturday morning that I had won big on The National Lottery.

“It was the strangest feeling ever! I picked up my phone and looked at my emails and there was one saying there was news about my ticket.

“I logged into my National Lottery account and there was the confirmation, I was indeed a millionaire!

“I had to pinch myself as I thought I was somehow in the middle of a dream and none of this was actually real.”

She added: “When I realised I wasn’t dreaming, I turned to my husband, Paul, and screamed – ‘we’re millionaires!’

“He is a very laid-back person and told me to calm down and to let him check.

“He then went on to the National Lottery website on his own phone and cross-checked the EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker code to confirm we really were winners.”

Roberts, a registered manager of a domiciliary care company and her 45-year-old husband Paul, a golf course manager, have no plans to give up work.

The couple instead intend to purchase a larger home and treat themselves to a new car each.

However, it was a normal start to the weekend as the Roberts took their kids to their regular Saturday morning football match.

She added: “We actually made the call to The National Lottery from the car as one of our sons was playing football, so we all heard the news together and the voice of the lady on the end of the phone saying, ‘I can confirm you are now millionaires!’

“I am surprised the car didn’t overturn, it was shaking with the jubilation of us all shouting, screaming and jumping up and down inside.

“My son who was playing football at the time, returned to the car disappointed because his team had lost, but I just simply said to him – ‘don’t worry son, losing the football game doesn’t matter – we’ve won the lottery!’”

Roberts does not always play the National Lottery but buys the odd ticket every now and again.
