Two arrested after elderly pedestrian in 80s killed following collision with car in Kent

A pedestrian in his eighties has died after being hit by a grey Mercedes estate car in Kent during the early hours of Monday morning.
The collision occurred shortly after midnight on the A289 Gads Hill in Gillingham, with the victim subsequently carried along the roadway. He was discovered on Grange Lane within the town.
Paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service attended and provided treatment at the scene, but the elderly man could not be saved. Kent Police have launched an investigation into the fatal incident, which has resulted in two arrests.
Two suspects are currently in custody being questioned by detectives. One is a 29-year-old from Chatham, while the other is 28 years old and has no fixed address. Investigators have released CCTV footage as part of their enquiries into the crash.
