The US president spoke to reporters about the recent mutiny in Russia

Joe Biden has dropped yet another blunder by declaring that Vladimir Putin is losing the war in Iraq.

The US President told reporters that a recent mutiny in Russia shows that his counterpart is “clearly” on the back-foot, but mistook Ukraine, the country invaded by Russia, for Iraq.

He said to a pack of journalists: “It’s clear he’s losing the war in Iraq and he is losing the war at home.”

The 80-year-old President was heading to Chicago to deliver an address on what he is calling ‘Bidenomics’, when he made the error.

It comes just weeks after Biden mistakenly referred to British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak as “Mr President” during a bilateral meeting in the White House.

The talks had barely got under way when Biden made the error.

He was quick to correct himself, calling Sunak “Mr Prime Minister” as his counterpart chuckled at his misfortune.

Biden also suffered a blunder during a graduation ceremony in Colorado, where he was seeing tumbling on stage.

The 80-year-old fell over a sandbag as he handed out diplomas for US Air Force Academy graduates.

He jokingly told reporters “I got sandbagged” as he arrived back at the White House after the misdemeanour in early June.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a 2024 contender for the Republican nomination, also reacted to Biden’s fall, stating: “We hope and wish Joe Biden a swift recovery from any injuries he may have sustained.

“But we also wish the United States of America a swift recovery from the injuries it has sustained because of Joe Biden and his policies.”

Biden is the nation’s oldest serving president, and is not ready to call it a day just yet, something he made clear with his announcement to run for a second presidential term.

Critics have argued that Biden is too old to run for a second term, including Donald Trump, who is gearing up to challenge for the Republican nomination.

The US President had a physical examination in February, where he was deemed “fit for duty” by White House physician Dr Kevin O’Connor.

He said: “The President remains fit for duty, and fully executes all of his responsibilities without any exemptions or accommodations.”
