British Transport Police has launched an investigation into the antisemitic incident

A Jewish man has allegedly been subjected to antisemitic abuse on a London Underground journey in North London after being told “your religion is killing Muslims”.

Footage shared by the Campaign Against Antisemitism showed a spat breaking out on a Northern Line journey between Chalk Farm and Belsize Park.

The vile verbal row eventually lasted for two minutes as the Jewish man questioned why the other man was staring at him after the passenger moved to sit opposite him in the relatively quiet carriage.

The passenger appeared to goad the Jewish man by blowing smoke from his red vape towards him.

The man recording the video asked: “Have you got a problem?”

He added: “Why have you got a problem? Why are you looking at me?”

“Your religion kills Muslims, that’s why,” the passenger replied after a long pause.

After clarifying the passenger was Muslim, the Jewish man said: “I’m very happy for you but the thing is you’re vaping on the Underground.

“I know you don’t give a s**t because you’re being inconsiderate.”

He added: “I haven’t done anything to you, you’ve got an issue with me, I’ve got no issue with you.”

The passenger replied: “You’ve done a lot.”

He added: “You’re wearing the hat.”

The brave Jewish man fired back by saying: “What you’re doing is called ‘antisemitism’. You’re antisemitic.”

The passenger reiterated his previous spurious allegation, claiming: “But you kill Muslims.”

The firey row continued with the passenger continuing to claim Judaism supports killing followers of Islam and the Jewish man labelling him an “idiot”.

The Jewish man left the carriage at the next stop after the passenger realised he was being recorded.

The Campaign Against Antisemitism said: “We have been made aware that last night on the London Underground, an identifiably Jewish man noticed a fellow passenger staring aggressively at him.

“The passenger then began blowing the vapour from his e-cigarette in his direction.

“After a few minutes, the man started recording the passenger, unsure of what may happen. The passenger stood up and sat opposite the man.

“In the ensuing conversation, the passenger said: ‘Your religion kills Muslims.’

“He also proceeded to refer to the man’s skullcap in saying: ‘You’re wearing the hat.’

“We believe it is possible that the passenger in question may be a minor, so we have blurred his face.

“He is described as a Middle Eastern male with a black ponytail between the ages of sixteen to twenty years old.

“British Transport Police is investigating and we are continuing to support the victim. The incident occurred between Camden Town and Chalk Farm on a Northern Line train to Edgware at approximately 7.45pm in carriage number 52585.
