Jack Renshaw is currently serving a life sentence after admitting to planning act of terror

The Neo-Nazi who plotted to kill a Labour MP has suffered a "vicious and pre-planned attack" at the same prison Ian Watkins was murdered.

Jack Renshaw, 30, was jailed for life after his plan to kill former Labour MP Rosie Cooper was foiled.

Now serving a minimum of 20 years at HMP Wakefield, Renshaw is said to have been targeted over his far-right views outside of his cell.

Though Renshaw denied it, it is reported that he was an active member of the Neo-Nazi group National Action.

Rapist Iain Ochieng, 32, is said to be the subject of investigations into the brutal attack that saw Renshaw's face slashed by a makeshift weapon.

A source told The Sun: "This was a vicious and pre-planned attack and Renshaw was lucky to survive.

"He was slashed with a makeshift ‘shank’ knife and left with a gaping wound running the length of his face.

"There was blood everywhere. Guards rushed to the scene and stopped it being worse than it was — but it was already pretty bad."

The attack, on December 9, occurred just two months after Lostprophets paedophile Watkins was murdered.

Rashid Gedel, 25, and Samuel Dodsworth, 43, have appeared in court charged with the singer's murder, after he was stabbed in the neck on October 11.

In the aftermath of his death, the prison is said to have feared a "copycat" attack on other inmates.

Renshaw is a convicted paedophile, after grooming underage boys online in 2016 and 2017, and was found guilty of four counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

While not meeting the children, he offered money for sex and requested intimate photographs.

In 2018, he admitted to planning an act of terrorism to kill his local MP, Rosie Cooper, after buying a knife described as "19 inches of unprecedented piercing and slashing power," which he intended to use.

The court heard that he wanted to "replicate" the murder of Jo Cox in 2016, who was fatally shot and stabbed outside a library in Birstall, West Yorkshire.

Ms Cox was murdered by Thomas Mair, who was also a white supremacist with links to a Neo-Nazi group.

Renshaw's plan involved taking hostages and luring a female detective who had been investigating him to the scene before killing her too.

The "white jihad" - a term coined by National Action - would then commit "suicide by cop": running towards armed police with a fake suicide vest.

His plot, which was announced in the pub to a group of friends, was thwarted after whistleblower Robbie Mullen heard and informed the anti-racism group Hope Not Hate.

After being found guilty, Renshaw made a Nazi salute towards supporters as he was led from the dock to the cells.

He has previously called for Jewish people to be "eradicated", adding that Adolf Hitler "showed mercy to people who did not deserve mercy".
