A Bridge Too Far star Harry Krüger has passed away "unexpectedly" aged 93, according to reports.
The German acting legend died at his home in California on Wednesday.
The actor's agency said of Krüger: "His warmth of heart, joie de vivre, and his unshakable sense of justice will make him unforgettable."
Krüger played starring role in almost 80 movies and bucked the trend of German actors failing to achieve international acclaim.
As well as A Bridge too Far, Krüger played roles in Hatari!, The Flight of the Phoenix, and Wild Geese.
The German played a Vietnam vet in Sundays and Cybèle, which won the Best Foreign Language Film in 1962.
Fans of Krüger posted tributes to the silver screen star online
The Sun reported that one person said: "Ad Astra Hardy Krüger. Thank you for the countless adventures and trips."
Another said: "One of Germany's first movie heartthrobs passed away at 93. RIP Harry Krüger."
Krüger stopped acting in the late 80s, however published a number of books and directed several travel documentaries.
