Grooming gang campaigners have urged the Government to focus on protecting children in the UK

Britain has been blasted for sending £19million to send to Pakistan to tackle illegal migration and child sexual exploitation problems.

Critics have accused the Government of sending millions of pounds overseas while "failing to protect children in our own country”.

The criticism comes after a Government-commissioned report found earlier this year that there was “clear evidence of over-representation among suspects of Asian and Pakistani-heritage men” in child sexual exploitation and abuse cases in Britain.

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office spending was uncovered in research carried out for GB News by the Taxpayer’s Alliance.

Of the money allocated, £498,873 has been spent so far, with £18,698,347 still to be sent to Pakistan by 2030.

Former detective turned grooming gang police whistleblower, Maggie Oliver, said: "This is a very powerful example showing just what’s wrong with our country, and I’m sure the whole country will be as shocked and dismayed by this as I am.

"Of course, children throughout the world need protecting, but I know from my work here in the UK that we are failing to protect children in our own country on a monumental scale, and that must be our priority in my opinion.

"We have public services on their knees through lack of funding, policing unfit for purpose, three to four year waits for trials, social workers carrying unmanageable workloads, prisons full and overflowing, sex offenders inadequately monitored and yet we can still give away millions to Pakistan."

She added: “We need to get our priorities right and as I watch our once incredible country falling apart, and the public seemingly powerless to stop it, this yet again clearly shows to me that we need a total clear out of the incompetent politicians and civil servants behind the scenes who are clearly unaccountable. It must change."

Since 2024, official records show the UK has also committed a further £1.13million to overseas schemes specifically targeting child sexual exploitation, alongside broader modern slavery initiatives in countries including Nigeria, Bangladesh, and Vietnam.

A total of £4million from the aid budget is also being used to support projects addressing the trafficking of children and vulnerable communities abroad, including £1.26 million to fund enforcement and co-ordination through the Organised Immigration Crime Unit.

Reform UK, Chief Whip, Lee Anderson, warned: "This is a Government that spends more time and money solving the problems of foreigners than addressing the challenges facing Britons, who are left to endure stagnant wages, rising crime, and some of the highest energy bills in the world.

“A Reform government will put our people first, fixing the problems here at home before offering help abroad."

Mr Anderson continued: "As with every Labour policy, it’s ordinary Britons who pay the price."

Investigations campaign manager at the Taxpayers Alliance, Callum McGoldrick, said: "Taxpayers will view this as a completely unacceptable use of precious resources.

"With the chancellor set to pile on the pressure in the upcoming budget through punitive tax hikes, the need to focus on spending on the public’s priorities only grows."

An FCDO spokesman said: “The organised criminal networks behind serious crimes such as child sexual exploitation and abuse (CSEA) do not respect borders.

"This funding allows us to work with Pakistan to combat illegal migration, alongside other serious crimes.

"No nation can tackle global challenges alone. We are working with our partners, such as Pakistan, to not only strengthen UK and global safety, security and prosperity, but also help to disrupt threats before they reach the UK, making our communities safer."
