Elon Musk has hit out at leftists for “openly celebrating” Charlie Kirk’s death during a video call with Tommy Robinson at today’s “Unite the Kingdom” protest.

He joined the activist, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, at today’s mass protest in London via a live call.

Mr Musk used his speech to warn about the effects of “massive uncontrolled migration” and pay tribute to Mr Kirk, the conservative activist who was assassinated this week while speaking at a university in Utah.

In a GB News video, you can hear Mr Musk telling the crowd: “We’ve got horrific stories and the Government did nothing and tried to hide it.

“These horrific crimes. You see how much violence is on the left. Our friend Charlie Kirk getting murdered in cold blood this week.

“People were celebrating it openly. The left is the party of nutters.”

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

At the protest, The Metropolitan Police deployed an extraordinary force of 1,600 officers across the capital to manage both events.

Law enforcement established extensive barriers between the opposing groups, creating what officials described as a "sterile area" to prevent potential confrontations.

The event featured prominent speakers including Canadian psychologist and political commentator Jordan Peterson alongside Katie Hopkins.

Mr Robinson posted on X: "Today London stands tall in defence of one of our most vital rights - free speech."

Anti-racism demonstrators assembled at Russell Square from midday, with over one hundred participants gathering early.

Independent MP Diane Abbott spearheaded the march, which organisers said would be fronted by hundreds of women.

Protesters carried signs reading "refugees welcome" and "oppose Tommy Robinson" while chanting "say it loud, say it clear, refugees are welcome here" from approximately 11:20am.

The demonstration route took participants through Kingsway, Aldwych and the Strand before reaching Whitehall's northern end for their rally.

Multiple police vehicles from Warwickshire Police, West Midlands Police and the Metropolitan Police lined Woburn Street adjacent to Russell Square.

Scotland Yard mobilised approximately 1,000 officers specifically for managing the two demonstrations, with an additional 600 deployed throughout London to handle five Premier League matches scheduled that day, including local derbies between West Ham and Tottenham, plus Brentford and Chelsea.

The force brought in 500 officers from other constabularies to bolster their numbers. Police positioned themselves strategically along the barrier system and surrounding streets to prevent any potential disorder should the opposing groups attempt to converge.

The extensive security operation aimed to maintain separation between Mr Robinson's supporters and the anti-racism protesters throughout the day's events.
