They have been taken into custody on suspicion of immigration offences

Eight potential migrants have been arrested after they were found in the back of a lorry on the M25.

Six men, along with two women, were taken into custody after they were found in the back of the truck on Tuesday at a lorry park at Waltham Abbey.

Essex Police confirmed that the driver was arrested on suspicion of facilitating illegal entry into the UK.

However, the force added he had been released without charge.

Everyone involved was assessed by paramedics before they were taken into custody.

Each person was arrested on suspicion of immigration offences.

It comes after Safi Dawood, the primary suspect in an alleged triple stabbing in west London, was found to be an Afghan national who entered the UK in a lorry in 2020.

One man died as a result of the alleged attack.

Met detectives charged the 22-year-old man with murder, two counts of attempted murder, and possessing an offensive weapon on Wednesday.

Dawood will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday from custody.

Officers were called after reports of the stabbing of three people in Midhurst Gardens in Uxbridge.

The Met arrived at the scene alongside paramedics who treated three victims, including a 14-year-old boy.

Wayne Broadhurst, 49, was treated by paramedics; however, he died at the scene.

Dawood and Broadhurst were not known to each other, according to the Met.

The 14-year-old boy has since been discharged from the hospital with neither life-changing nor life-threatening injuries.

However, a 45-year-old man remains in the hospital with life-changing injuries.

The Met said the 45-year-old and 14-year-old were known to Dawood.

Dawood was assessed after entering custody and was taken to the hospital after suffering a medical episode.

The 22-year-old has since returned to police custody ahead of his court appearance.

It is understood that the suspect was granted asylum and leave to remain in 2022.

Officials have said he was not staying in an asylum hotel or any other Home Office accommodation.

Chief Crown Prosecutor for North London's Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), Jaswant Narwal, said, following the shocking triple stabbing, Dawood has been charged.

"Our prosecutors have worked to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to court and that it is in the public interest to pursue criminal proceedings," he said.

"We have worked closely with the Metropolitan Police Service as they carried out their investigation."
