Fresh reports suggest he is blaming those around him for advising him to back candidates that lost

Donald Trump is reportedly blaming a whole host of people for the results of the US midterm elections, including his wife.

Fresh reports have suggested he is blaming those around him for advising him to back candidates that lost.

An adviser to the former president has told CNN that he is “livid” and “screaming at everyone” after the results.

One political reporter, Maggie Haberman, tweeted: “Trump is indeed furious this morning, particularly about Mehmet Oz, and is blaming everyone who advised him to back Oz — including his wife, describing it as not her best decision, according to people close to him.”

In a critical win for Democrats during midterms, John Fetterman flipped a Republican-held US Senate seat in Pennsylvania, beating Trump-backed retired celebrity surgeonOz and bolstering his party's chances of holding the chamber.

Haberman has also reported that there are “people pushing Trump to reschedule his [2024] announcement next week”.

The former president has yet to officially announce a 2024 presidential run but has strongly hinted that he will throw his hat into the ring in the past few months.

Earlier this week, speaking exclusively to Nigel Farage on GB News, Jason Miller, who has served as chief spokesman for Trump and was a senior advisor to his 2020 re-election campaign said: "The public speculation had been the week of November 14th. A [possible] date was the Saturday of that week, the 19th.

"However, within the last 24 hours there's been a great deal of speculation. President Trump has made comments to people who are close to him that he could announce tonight.

"I think very soon you'll see a Trump announcement."

On Monday, while speaking at a rally for Ohio Senate candidate J.D. Vance, Trump added to speculation, telling the audience: “I'm going to be making a very big announcement on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.”

Republican Ron DeSantis was re-elected governor of Florida on Tuesday, setting him up for a possible presidential run in 2024.

Mr DeSantis, who won office by less than half a percentage point four years ago, easily defeated Democratic challenger Charlie Crist, a former Republican governor who switched parties and won a congressional seat as a Democrat.

Mr Trump later sent a warning to Mr DeSantis, saying: "I don't know if he is running. I think if he runs, he could hurt himself very badly.”

“I don't think it would be good for the party."

Mr Trump continued: “If he did run, I will tell you things about him that won’t be very flattering. I know more about him than anybody other than perhaps his wife, who is really running his campaign.

“Any of that stuff is not good – you have other people that possibly will run, I guess. I don’t know if he runs. If he runs, he runs.”
