Christians are becoming second-class citizens in Britain, a leading Catholic commentator has claimed during a heated debate on GB News.
TikTok videos of police seemingly pressuring a Christian preacher in Brighton to move on because of ‘hate’ have sparked fears that authorities are increasingly adopting a ‘two-tier’ approach to religion.
That is the opinion of Caroline Farrow, who made it clear to Ben Leo that she is very concerned about the future of Christianity in Britain.
“Groups like mine are constantly campaigning to defend Christians’ rights”, she said.

“Just down the road from me in Rushmoor, Christian preachers were banned from the local town centre because of complaints from LGBT activists.
“They weren’t hate preachers, they were peacefully preaching the gospel on public streets. If this was another religion, this would be unthinkable.

“This is happening modern Britain. Preaching the Bible in public is treated as a public order offence.
“It’s hypocrisy. Every weekend, huge pro-Palestine demonstrations are allowed which often display extremist rhetoric and these are all tolerated in the name of freedom of expression.

“We see Catholics praying silently outside abortion clinics and they are interrogated and arrested. You just think, why does freedom of speech apply to extremists and not peaceful Christians?”
Simon Harris from the Peter Tatchell Foundation blasted the arguments being put forward as “faux outrage” and told GB News host Ben Leo to “get out more”.
Referring to the TikTok videos in question of the preacher in Brighton, he said the police “didn’t collar him” and “they were politely talking to him”.
“He set that up as a viral moment”, he said.

GB News’s Ben Leo said his remark was a “turn of phrase” and asked why the police showed up in the first place.
Harris said: “We simply don’t know. This is typical fake outrage.”
“It’s not”, Farrow hit back. “In Farnborough an injunction was taken out to stop Christian preachers. We are always having to defend Christian preachers, it’s happening time and time again.”
Asked about preachers praying silently outside abortion clinics being punished by authorities, Harris responded: “I wouldn’t dare venture into that.”
“Oh, that’s convenient”, Ben sarcastically responded.
Harris said: “I wasn’t told to research that, so that’s a little bit unfair. Of course this man has the right to free speech and I would defend that.
“But we need to put this into context. He was not collared or moved on. This preacher was looking for a viral moment.”
Ben Leo said: “Even if he was looking for a viral moment, what does that matter? Is that against the law now in the UK?”
Harris responded: “Let’s be honest, he wasn’t collared and he was not moved on.”
