The four men have been linked to at least two other robbery with violence incidents

Four men have been arrested over the killing of a British businessman whose body was found bound in a sack in Kenya.

Campbell Scott, 58, was found dead after he disappeared from capital Nairobi.

His body was found in a pineapple sack with his hands bound about 60 miles away form the capital in the Makongo Forest in February last year.

Authorities in Kenya said four suspects have now been arrested after an intelligence-led, multi-agency operation in the coastal town of Ukunda.

The four suspects were named by Kenya's Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) as Bernard Mbusu, Isaac Kinoti Kobia, Evans Muthengi Mutaki and Kelvin Mwangi Njoroge.

The four have been arrested in connection to at least two other robberies with violence.

Authorities said a search of their homes in Ukunda led to the recovery of several stolen items, including an HP laptop, mobile phones, assorted foreign currencies, multiple credit cards, cheque books, and mobile card readers.

Mr Scott was first reported missing after he failed to meet colleagues at the JW Marriot Hotel in Nairobi's Westlands area.

He had visited the Havana nightclub the evening before.

Kenyan police believe that he was taken to a property in the Pipeline district, just over nine miles from his hotel.

Prosecutors believe the businessman was held there while attempts were made to extract money from his bank accounts.

A post-mortem by the Kenyan Government's chief pathologist found indications of a head injury and multiple soft tissue injuries.

But he added the injuries seemed "too minor" to cause death, ultimately deeming the post-mortem to be "inconclusive".

Police first questioned two men, a taxi driver and a nightclub waiter, who were believed to be among the last to see him alive.

Two men were arrested in March last year, and one appeared in court accused of murder.

An appeal was then launched by Kenyan police to find three additional men who it believed were linked to the "brutal murder" of Mr Scott.

Samuel Musembi, one of the men named as a suspect, stabbed himself to death while on the run from police.

Mr Scott was a senior director at credit scoring firm Fico and was visiting Nairobi for a work conference.

In a statement, Kenya's DCI said: "The arrests follow investigations into a robbery with violence incident involving an American national in Nyali and the earlier reported abduction and subsequent murder of British national Campbell Scott Alistair in February 2025, whose body was discovered in Mukuyuni along the Machakos–Wote road.

"The suspects have also been forensically linked to another robbery with violence incident in Watamu, Malindi Sub-County."

They added the four are in custody at Nyali Police Station pending further investigation.
