Schoolboy, 12, charged with sexual assault after woman in 60s seriously injured

A 12-year-old boy has been charged with sexual assault after a woman in her 60s was found seriously injured.
The victim was discovered at a property in the Duddeston area of Birmingham at around 6.15pm on March 18.
He was arrested and charged with wounding and sexual assault.
West Midlands Police said he has also been charged with a separate theft matter and intentional strangulation after a woman was confronted in the street last month.
The boy, who cannot be identified due to his age, has been remanded to appear before Birmingham Youth Court later today.
A WMP spokesman said: "A woman, aged in her 60s, was discovered in Kellett Road at just before 6.15pm on Wednesday, March 18.
"She remains in a serious condition in hospital. A 12-year-old boy was arrested and has since been charged with wounding and sexual assault.
"He's also been charged with a separate theft matter last Wednesday and intentional strangulation after a woman was confronted in the street last month."

The WMP spokesman continued: "Our enquiries remain ongoing, but we understand how concerning this will be within the community.
"Our officers will be continuing to provide reassurance in the local area.
"If anyone has any information regarding suspicious behaviour on March 18 or in the days leading up to last Wednesday, details can be submitted via the Major Incident Public Portal or via 101 quoting log 4888 of March 18."
