Wilko closed all 400 of its stores after collapsing into administration last year, but the brand was later bought by The Range owner CDS Superstores

Wilko has announced the relaunch of its free click and collect service.

Shoppers will now be able to collect Wilko products from 217 collection points across the UK.

Customers can choose from more than 30,000 products and pick up their online orders just two hours later, store opening times permitting.

Shoppers can choose collection points in the reopened Wilko stores and from more than 200 collection points at sister brand, The Range.

Wilko has reopened five stores - in Exeter, Luton, Plymouth, St Albans and Rotherham – in recent months, after CDS Superstores bought the brand, intellectual property and website from administrators.

More store openings are expected throughout 2024, Wilko said.

CEO of CDS Superstores, trading as Wilko, Alex Simpkin said; “We’re getting great feedback as we reopen Wilko stores as part of our ongoing roll out programme.

“We’re also getting lots of requests from loyal customers asking when their town or city will be next.

“This latest addition to wilko.com means we can make products available immediately in over 200 new locations so busy customers and their families can easily get the things they need for their home and garden jobs.”

Wilko.com relaunched under the new ownership in October last year, offering home deliveries.

In the same announcement, it was confirmed shoppers would see Wilko branded shoppers appear in The Range stores across the nation within a matter of weeks.

Wilko subsequently announced the plans to open the concept stores ahead of a wider store opening programme in 2024.

Ben Exall, Chief Digital Officer for Wilko, said at the time: “There’s no denying that it was the team members and local store network that helped make Wilko so special.

"The loss of thousands of jobs as stores closed up and down the country has been devastating

"Following the acquisition of the Wilko brand and website by the Range, what we’re working towards here is an opportunity to save an important part of the wilko brand that people know, love and trust and, to represent that on wilko.com where both new and loyal hardworking families will be able to find great value products to meet their everyday household and garden needs.

“As a team delivering the digital transformation at wilko.com, we’re committed to continuing the three pillars of the brand’s previous acceleration strategy - delivering on convenience, improving mobile experience and building lasting customer relationships.”

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Administrators for Wilko announced in September that it would shut all 400 UK shops after tumbling into administration in the face of hefty debts and weak consumer spending.

Nearly all of Wilko’s 12,500 workers were made redundant as a result.

Up to 71 Wilko stores were sold to Poundland owner Pepco, and up to 51 shops were sold to rival discounter B&M.
