More than 250,000 families are now receiving letters confirming a £150 discount on their winter energy bills as part of the Government’s Warm Home Discount scheme.
The letters, which began arriving across England and Wales on Tuesday, will continue to be sent out over the coming weeks.
The one-off payment will help households manage rising costs during the colder months.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer expanded the scheme last year, extending support to an extra 2.7 million families. In total, more than six million households across England, Scotland and Wales will benefit from the discount.
All eligible households will receive confirmation of their £150 payment before January.
The majority of beneficiaries will see the £150 discount applied automatically to their energy accounts without any required action.
However, certain households must supply additional details to secure their reduction, including providing an electricity bill or statement that verifies the account holder's name and reference number.
Households in England and Wales qualify for the scheme if they receive specific means-tested benefits and are listed on the electricity account.
These benefits include Housing Benefit, income-related Employment and Support Allowance, income-based Jobseeker's Allowance, Income Support, Pension Credit, and Universal Credit.

Sir Keir stated: "This cash injection will help people manage their bills while we fix the rusting energy system we inherited.
"Because it is only through our clean energy mission that we will get bills down for everyone in the long run, creating jobs and economic growth along the way."
