The supplier said the installation reflected growing customer demand for smart meters as three-quarters of its customers’ homes are now fitted with smart meters.
This represents one of the highest adoption rates among UK energy suppliers.
Data shows around two-thirds of smart meters installed over the past year were brand new devices and were carried out for customers who actively requested a smart meter.
The remaining third of installations involved replacing older or inherited meters.

Octopus said the replacements were necessary to ensure continued functionality and accurate readings.
Its engineers have also carried out extensive repair work over the same period with close to 100,000 smart meters being restored or repaired remotely during the year.
This reduced the need for physical replacements, avoided disruption for customers, saved time and reduced costs for households and the wider system.
Smart meters play a central role in helping customers manage their energy use.

Real-time data allows households to better understand when and how they consume energy.
More than 800,000 Octopus Energy customers are currently signed up to smart tariffs, including Agile, Cosy, Snug and Intelligent Octopus Go.
These tariffs allow customers to shift energy use to cheaper periods, meaning customers can benefit when energy demand is lower or renewable generation is higher.
They said flexibility is becoming increasingly important for the national energy system.

The company said continued investment in smart technology remains a priority
| GETTYRebecca Dibb-Simkin, chief product officer at Octopus Energy, said the milestone demonstrated strong customer engagement.
"Smart meters aren't just little boxes on the wall – they're the key to cheaper bills, cleaner energy and a grid that works for everyone."
She added: "Hitting a million installs this year shows just how much customers want to take control of their energy, and we're over the moon to help them do it."
Ms Dibb-Simkin said smart technology is central to the company’s long-term strategy as smart meters enable innovation across tariffs, rewards and customer engagement.
Millions of customers are now using smart meter data in additional ways.
Continued investment in smart technology remains a priority for the energy supplier, and it expects smart meter installations to continue at pace in the coming years.
