Millions of households could be in line for a fresh cash boost worth hundreds of pounds.
The support is designed to help with rising bills, but not everyone will qualify.
The payments come from the Household Support Fund, a £742million scheme across England that helps people cover essentials such as food, heating and water bills.
In Kingston, the council only takes applications on the first working day of each month and shuts the scheme once its 80 monthly slots are filled.
The support will run until March 2026, providing help for families struggling with rising costs.
Kingston Council has been given just over £1.5million from the Department for Work and Pensions to share between April 2025 and March 2026.
The authority explained: "We aim to provide support to households in need, including those with children, pensioners, and individuals with disabilities, who would otherwise struggle to afford energy, food, and water bills."
Each eligible household can get a one-off £300 payment during the funding period, with details checked against Department for Work and Pensions and council records.
The council has warned that giving false or misleading information will lead to applications being rejected and could trigger a fraud investigation. To make sure the money is shared fairly, households are only allowed to apply once.

| GETTYKingston applicants can submit forms directly or through professional representatives, with the council processing claims through www.kingston.gov.uk.
The monthly application window opens at 9am on each month's first working day, closing immediately upon reaching capacity.
Successful applicants receive direct bank transfers, eliminating the need for vouchers or physical collection.
It’s not just Kingston residents who can claim extra help with the cost of living, support is being rolled out across the country.
In Bromsgrove and Redditch, households can get up to £350, while in East Sussex the payment is £195. Families in Cornwall could receive £140.
The Household Support Fund is aimed at people on low incomes or those classed as vulnerable, with money paid directly into applicants’ bank accounts. Some councils have already opened applications.
The scheme is scheduled to remain open until March 31, 2026
| GETTYThose who received support in the previous funding round, which ran from October 2024 to March 2025, will next be able to apply on September 15, 2025, but only if money is still available.
The scheme is scheduled to remain open until March 31, 2026, though local funding may run out earlier if demand is high.
With demand potentially outstripping supply, councils advise residents to prepare documentation early and submit applications promptly when the system reopens each month.
