GB News presenter Patrick Christys has sent a special message of thanks to all the members who kindly donated to his fundraiser for Friends of the Elderly.
The fundraiser has now reached £170,000 worth of donations and gift aid combined to support elderly people in financial difficulty.
Speaking to GB News members, Patrick said: "Hello everybody. It's Patrick Christie's here. And I just want to say a massive, massive, massive thank you to you, the GB news members, because you have really helped us get our fundraiser off to an absolutely flying start.
"As many of you will know, I'm trying to raise a bit of money for Friends of the Elderly. So they give grants to older people who are struggling to make ends meet, shall we say, in the winter months especially.
"So it helps them with paying their utility bills, their energy bills. It helps them with food. It helps driving them to dental appointments or doctor's appointments.
"You name it, they help them with it. And they're seeing a bigger demand than ever before, especially with the Winter Fuel Payment being cut, with council tax going up, with energy bills going up, the whole shebang, it's really hitting pensioners disproportionately."
He added: "The total that we've got so far is amazing, considering this has been live now for just over 48 hours. There's £140,000 worth of donations, so thank you so much. But there's also £30,000 worth of gift aid so when you add that together you get £170,000 raised for Friends of the Elderly on justgiving.com/page/saveourseniors."
"Let's try and get that up to £260,000 because if we can, that's the same amount of money that friends of the elderly gave away in grants last year. So if we can, we could sort them out for a year. Anyway, thank you everybody. And if you can then please do donate. It means the world," Christys concluded.
