GB News Reporter Charlie Peters delivers a major update today
In his latest update on a constantly shifting situation, GB News Reporter Charlie Peters has revealed: "This morning the ceasefire in Gaza extended by another 24 hours, according to Hamas.
"The Israelis have not said how long that ceasefire will be continued, but it was a last minute decision at 5:00AM this morning, just before it was set to expire.
"The Prime Minister's office in Israel said that they received a new list of hostages set to be released tonight.
"But mere hours after that list was received, there was a terror attack in Jerusalem at a bus stop just by the entrance into the city.
"Three people have been killed, almost a dozen others seriously wounded, many rushed to hospital.
"The Israelis say that two of the terrorists who conducted that attack, both now neutralized, were members of Hamas. They say that they were Palestinian prisoners who had been released in the past for terror offences.
"This will put some questions now on the peace process and the hostage release process, because as we know, every time Hamas released one Israeli, the Palestinians receive three prisoners.
"So if Palestinian prisoners are killing Israelis and terror attacks right now, could that put that process at risk? Other things putting it at risk of course, is the fighting talk from Israel. They are ready, they say, to move into the next phase of their operation. So I think for the first time since this ceasefire started, it is at real risk now of ending."
Charlie went on to explain that: "As these tensions rise and there's a likely escalation of the conflict, Britain is doubling its presence in the region.
"This morning a Type 45 destroyer, HMS Diamond, is being sent into the rough.
"It's going into the Persian Gulf, there to defend the Straits of Hormuz and other key British interests.
"We do know that the Defence Secretary, Grant Shapp, is extremely concerned about Iranian proxies in the region escalating as a consequence in the change of hostilities.
"So a significant day in the Israel-Gaza conflict this morning with British lives and interests at risk."
