A separate incident is causing severe delays between J9 and J10

Drivers are facing long delays of two hours on the M25 this morning, creating travel chaos for commuters at the start of the week.

Lanes one, two and three (of four) on the M25 are closed anticlockwise between J27 and J26 to the east of London.

This is due to a broken down recovery truck which has lost its diesel tank and spilt its contents over the carriageway.

National Highways has confirmed that specialist contractors are on the scene to complete emergency resurfacing.

The resurfacing works are progressing, although there is no estimated time for the completion of the works.

National Highways states that there are severe delays of up to two hours through the area, alongside 10 miles of congestion.

It continued, saying: "If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey."
