A major retailer has issued urgent safety warnings to shoppers over products that could harm customers.
TK Maxx and Homesense are recalling both garden furniture that may suddenly collapse and a hair treatment device with electrical faults.
Shoppers have been told to immediately cease using the Urban Balcony garden chairs and Beauty Hair Revitalise Steamer Caps. The retailers have confirmed that both items present serious safety hazards.
The garden chairs lack proper safety mechanisms and could fail without warning, potentially causing injuries.
Meanwhile, the hair steamer caps contain faulty electrical components that create risks of electric shock or fire.
Both products qualify for complete refunds when returned to any TK Maxx or Homesense location.
The Office for Product Safety and Standards has determined that the Urban Balcony deckchair fails to comply with General Product Safety Regulations 2005.
Officials warn the wooden furniture lacks essential safety features, including weight capacity information and proper usage guidance.
The foldable hanging chair variant poses particular dangers as its straps could break during normal use. TKMaxx stated: "The straps may fail during use, causing the chair to collapse."
These chairs were available in shops from April through July 2021. Affected products bear batch number 50 245431 on the cushion's sewn-in label.
The retailer emphasised: "The safety of our customers is very important to us and we are taking this action as a precaution."
The Beauty Hair Revitalise Steamer Cap presents electrical dangers due to substandard components in its plug.
Eclat Cosmetic Ltd, the manufacturer, initiated the recall after discovering the fuse failed to meet British safety requirements.
These hair treatment devices have been available at both retailers since early 2025, bearing model number ZT-A. The defective fuse creates potential hazards of electrical shock or fire during use.
Authorities have instructed customers to discontinue using the steamer caps immediately.
The recall notice also encourages purchasers to alert friends and relatives about the safety risks associated with this product.
Customers can obtain full refunds by returning either product to any TK Maxx or Homesense branch. No proof of purchase is required for these safety-related returns.

The retailers have urged shoppers to inform others who may have purchased these items. This marks another in a series of product safety issues affecting budget retailers.
Recently, an electric toothbrush charger sold through Amazon was withdrawn due to fire risks from faulty fuses.
That product contained similar electrical defects, including missing granular filler and incorrectly sized fuses with loose endcaps.
Consumer safety organisations continue monitoring retail products for compliance with British safety standards.
