The recall affects six summer dresses and an outfit set from Next

High street retailer Next has issued an urgent safety recall for several Miss brand children's clothing items after potentially lethal flaws were discovered in their design.

The affected garments feature decorative cords that surpass safety limits, creating a serious risk of strangulation for young ones.

The recall encompasses six different printed summer dress styles and a three-piece outfit consisting of a knitted top, denim shorts, and a matching headband.

In an alert from the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS), parents and carers were told to "cease use immediately".

Affected items should be returned to a Next store for a full refund. Alternatively, shoppers can arrange a collection.

The problematic garments include two distinct summer dress patterns - Boho and Patch Work styles - each available in three colour variations.

Item codes F83773, F83782 and F83775 identify the Boho dresses, whilst F83791, F83779 and F83781 correspond to the Patch Work versions.

The outfit set bears item number F85623 and features a pink knitted top paired with blue denim shorts and a pink headband.

Children's clothing items sold at Next pose a 'risk of strangulation'

Officials warned that the decorative cords on these garments "present a risk of strangulation" as they could become caught and constrict around a child's neck during wear.

For this reason, the products breach the General Product Safety Regulations 2005 standards.

Next has established several contact methods for those affected. Customers can call 0333 777 8000 and select option 1 from 8am to 9pm on weekdays and 8am to 7pm on weekends to arrange a collection.

Alternatively, they can phone the Selfserve line on 0800 587 7758, input their Selfserve number, and select option 3. Or, customers can sign in to 'My Account' and select 'Arrange a return' from the menu.

Shoppers can return the affected garments to a Next store for a full refund

Those who purchased these garments as gifts should notify recipients urgently about the safety issue.

Next has apologised for any inconvenience caused, whilst emphasising the critical nature of this measure to protect children from potential harm.

While they aren't too common, food and product recalls should always be taken seriously to ensure shopper safety.

Britons were recently alerted to a food safety issue at Waitrose, after the retailer discovered a major packaging error.

The supermarket issued a recall for its Indian Takeaway for 2 meal kits, explaining that certain packs contain spring rolls instead of the intended contents.

As a result, the product contains sesame and soya ingredients, which are absent from its labelling.

This could mean serious health consequences for those with sensitivities to sesame or soya.

The mispacking incident affects meal kits bearing the use-by date of July 25, 2025, meaning affected shoppers must act immediately.

Customers who have purchased the faulty ready meal – especially those with the aforementioned sensitivities – should return it to their nearest Waitrose & Partners store for a full refund.
