A skin care enthusiast has shared a game-changing product that supports skin rejuvenation by promoting collagen production

Skin changes are an inevitable part of ageing, but a combination of skincare and a healthy lifestyle can help skin look its best at every stage of life.

Active ingredients like retinol are among the best to help minimise age-related changes because they promote collagen production.

Fifty-year-old Tina Wylie recently described how retinol products, namely tretinoin, transformed her skin in a TikTok clip.

She said it was one of “two things that made massive changes" to her skin "as a 50-year-old".

“I am obsessed and will use it until the day I die,” she said of the vitamin A derivative.

Tretinoin increases cell turnover and melanin distribution, which contribute to its cosmetic effects.

It is a topical form of vitamin A that supports skin rejuvenation by promoting collagen production.

But due to the product's potency, users are advised to apply a pea-sized amount to the skin at night.

It is also crucial to apply sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher every single day, as the product increases skin sensitivity.

Experts at Harvard Health cite the fading of age spots and softening of rough skin patches as additional benefits of the product.

“However, it takes three to six months of regular use before improvements in wrinkles are apparent, and the best results take six to 12 months,” it adds.

“Because retinoids can cause skin dryness and irritation, doctors often recommend using them only every other day at first, then gradually working up to nightly applications.”

Although it worked wonders for Tina, the TikToker credits an additional lifestyle change for her dewy skin.

“You’re not going to like this one,” she declared. “I stopped drinking alcohol. Not drinking made a huge difference in my skin.

“Now I look much more plump and hydrated, I have fewer fine lines and wrinkles, and no more issues with rosacea. I massively changed my skin.”

There is ample evidence that quitting alcohol promotes younger-looking skin, primarily because it leaves the skin looking more dewy and hydrated.
