When it comes to looking younger, the opportunities are endless. For an instant anti-ageing fix, makeup and hair hacks can make a major difference in a matter of seconds.
But for more transformative, long-lasting results, making the right lifestyle changes is crucial.
According to skin experts, revamping and refining your skin care routine is hailed as an excellent long-term anti-ageing strategy.
While results won't happen straight away, a targeted regimen that incorporates active ingredients can rejuvenate and repair the skin immensely over time.
GB News spoke exclusively to a dermatologist about her top anti-ageing skin care tips. Medical advisory board member at Codex Labs, Dr Trisha Khanna, swears by two products that address a specific concern.
Women are advised to seek out products that support the skin's barrier
GETTY IMAGES"As a dermatologist, the one skin care habit I cannot live without is using barrier-supporting moisturisers and serums," the expert revealed.
She explained that enhancing the skin barrier is "often overlooked", despite it being extremely important.
A weakened skin barrier can lead to inflammation, which Dr Khanna warned is linked to ageing.
Among experts, it is widely understood that a healthy skin barrier (the outermost layer of the skin) is crucial for a glowing, radiant, youthful complexion.
The experts at Dermalogica even coined it "the unsung hero of healthy-looking skin".
City Skin Clinic confirmed that a protected skin barrier "helps control the skin's response to external irritants, reducing the likelihood of inflammation and sensitivity".
It also "acts as a shield" against environmental damage and "boosts hydration levels" for added suppleness.
"When the barrier functions optimally, skin remains hydrated, smooth and capable of repairing itself," the experts concluded.
If your skin is experiencing dryness, flakiness, increased sensitivity, inflammation and breakouts - or even just looks a little "lacklustre" - your skin barrier may be compromised.
It's easily fixable, though: one way to restore this outer layer is by simplifying your skin care routine. According to the experts, "less is more".
