A 'light, bright and fresh' option is likely to entice prospective buyers

When looking to sell, many homeowners are keen to refresh and revamp their property, hoping to maximise its value ahead of purchase.

Often, the easiest method to renew a space is to apply a fresh coat of paint. However, it can be challenging to decide on a shade that will attract plenty of interest from potential buyers.

DIY guru and jewellery crafter Katie Clark (@katieclark.co) has taken to TikTok to document her journey as she prepares to sell her home, explaining how she is "almost up for anything when it comes to home repairs and painting".

In one of her latest videos, she showed her followers how she transformed her sons' playroom with just a simple coat of paint.

"While I do love the green colour still that's on this wall, I just find that it makes this small room feel even smaller," she explained to followers.

Instead, "something neutral to brighten the space" was key, Katie shared, explaining why she opted for a warm shade of white called Blank Canvas.

She added: "I thought it was the perfect colour to put in this room for the potential buyer who will end up buying this house."

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

In other parts of Katie's home, the DIY enthusiast opted for a similarly neutral shade, although with a slightly more yellow undertone for larger rooms.

"Let's give this room a facelift with a fresh coat of paint," Katie declared, as she geared up to paint the space.

After completing the mini revamp within a few hours, the guru admired her work, declaring it a "light, bright and fresh" option for those keen on making the most of their space ahead of selling.

The experts at Barry's Luxe Decorating confirmed that neutral tones like soft whites, light greys, and warm beiges are a winner for sellers.

Indeed, they were described as the ideal choice when creating a "clean, inviting vibe that appeals to many tastes".

"I could not be happier with how it turned out. It's light, it's bright, it's fresh, and I think the new buyers will really appreciate this fresh coat of paint," Katie concluded.

And her followers rushed to the comments to fawn over her work, with one stating: "The room looks so much better! Opens the space up."

To take the technique further, another advised painting the ceiling as well if possible, claiming that it would "make the room look bigger".
