Belgravia is one of Britons most exclusive and sought after areas

Award-winning, world-renowned actress Dame Julie Andrews DBE, aged 88, appeared on the West End in 1948 and debuted on Broadway in 1954.

She catapulted to fame in 1964 when she made her feature film debut as the titular character in Walt Disney's Mary Poppins, and the following year starred in The Sound of Music.

Julie Andrews lived in an exquisite mansion in the 1970s, nestled in Chester Square, Belgravia, London. She shared the home, which was built between 1835 and 1836, with her husband Blake Edwards.

When it was put on the market in 2018, after a multi-million-pound makeover, the gorgeous home boasted six bedrooms, countless reception rooms, a large formal dining room, a family kitchen, and a gym, cinema and spa, according to reports.

The palatial abode encompassed a colossal 7,005 square feet. Some highlights of the West London home in 2018 included marble flooring and countertops in the kitchen, and a cosy but lavish breakfast nook, ideal for enjoying meals with loved ones.

Ever so cosy, the bathroom floors boasted underfloor heating for the winter, plus air conditioning in the summer.

The spa's jacuzzi, steam room and sauna also provided the ultimate luxury.

Potential owners could enjoy outdoor spaces too, including access to private square gardens and 658 square feet of space which held a balcony and several terraces.

The property was ultimately rented out for a whopping £35,000 a week, suggests reports.

Belgravia London revealed what makes the area so beautiful. Experts said: "If there’s only time to visit one part of London during a stay, then why not make it Belgravia?

"This area of great historical interest boasts some of the finest architecture that the capital has to offer. Moreover, the shops, restaurants and bars that call those buildings home are among some of the most sought-after in the world.

"Strolling around the regency-style crescents and verdant garden squares is inspiring and relaxing at the same time.

"Here in one of the most beautiful places in London, it’s easy to lose track of time and simply while away the hours."

As for what Britons can do in Belgravia in 2024, music lovers should head to Cadogan Hall, and lovers of the arts can visit the Royal Court Theatre.
