Consider earth-tone wall colours, light woods, and natural textures for your next home revamp

Considering a refresh, but not sure where to start? Whether you're putting your house on the market or simply looking to improve your space, "grounded optimism" may be the interior trend for you.

According to design expert Jamilyn Trainor, British homeowners looking to give their properties a makeover this summer should embrace this new design philosophy.

Jamilyn, owner of Müller Expo Services International (a global leader in exhibit design), identified this minimalistic approach as the "strongest interior trend" for Britons this season.

She said: "From dabbling in staging properties around the UK for usages of seasonal rentals and resale, I have seen how one design decision at the right time can create elevation in space and value."

Speaking exclusively to GB News, she shared how homeowners can channel grounded minimalism without breaking the bank.

Jamilyn explained that grounded optimism represents "the embrace of a warm minimalism comprising tactile joy", offering a fresh take on home decoration that balances simplicity with comfort.

The trend centres on earth-tone wall colours, with Jamilyn recommending rust, clay, and olive shades combined with light woods and natural textures.

She also advised incorporating "a handful or two of quirky, slanting, uplifting objects" to add personality without overwhelming your space.

Curved furniture remains a key element of the interior design trend, with the expert highlighting accent chairs or footstools with rounded edges in bouclé or terracotta linen.

She explained that these pieces "soften the sharp lines found in small UK homes and allow for warmth and softness without coming across as cluttered or busy".

The approach aims to create layered comfort and tonal depth while maintaining an uncluttered aesthetic.

For those on a limited budget, Jamilyn recommended purchasing a throw blanket in ochre or neutral clay.

Easily snapped up at a low price point, the expert described this as "the easiest way to engage with the 2025 trend of layered comfort and tonal depth without repainting or buying new furniture".

The throw's versatility makes it particularly appealing, as it can be "draped over a sofa or folded neatly on the base of a bed".

Jamilyn emphasised that this purchase adds "another texture, a seasonal colour, and character" to all spaces, making them an accessible entry point into the grounded optimism aesthetic.

The expert concluded: "If you mix that with natural light, potted greenery, and if you can get rid of more objects in your area, you could be looking in through the window at the summer indoors in no time."

Speaking exclusively to GB News, property stager Liv Conlon previously explained why getting your interiors right can boost your home's value before a sale.

Although furniture rarely comes with the house, creating the right style and vibe is an easy way to entice a buyer.

"People can really start to visualise it as a space they can live in, and it's selling a home, not a house."

The importance of strategic interiors should not be underestimated. According to a second expert, one trend that made a dramatic comeback in 2025 could add thousands to the value of your home.
