British shoppers have received an urgent warning regarding a baby sleeping bag sold by Marks & Spencer that poses a "potential strangulation hazard".
The retailer has issued a recall for the Stripe 2.5 Tog Baby Sleeping Bag after discovering the product fails to comply with British safety regulations.
The neck opening on the sleeping bag does not satisfy the requirements set out in BS EN16781, the British standard for sleeping bag safety.
In light of this, the retailer has urged all customers who purchased this item to "stop using [it] immediately".
Instead, parents should return the sleeping bags to any Clothing & Home store or through customer services for a full refund.
To ensure the safety of customers going forward, M&S has also withdrawn the sleeping bags from sale online and in stores.
The affected product, which carries the model number T92/4648S, was available in three size ranges: newborn to six months, six to 18 months, and 18 to 36 months, all in the Blue Mix design.
Each size variant had its own barcode number for identification purposes.

A home decoration sold at Sainsbury's has been deemed 'toxic' to humans and animals
| SAINSBURY'SM&S' safety alert follows a product recall issued by Sainsbury's just yesterday, when the major supermarket raised concerns after a home decoration was deemed "toxic" to humans.
It was discovered that Habitat Seed Pod Bowl Filler contains harmful seeds. While the outer pod shells are safe to touch, the seeds inside present a genuine danger if swallowed.
Shoppers who have purchased the product should stop using it immediately, ensuring it is kept away from both children and pets.
The item should be bagged and returned to any Sainsbury's store for a full refund.
While recalls aren't overly common, they should always be taken seriously to ensure customer safety.
For the latest product safety notices, including recalls and withdrawals, Britons should consult the Office for Product Safety and Standards.
