As trends come and go, many hold on to age-old techniques they swear have always worked for them.
But when your features evolve, it is best to switch up methods to ensure you look and, more importantly, feel your best.
L’Oreal makeup artist Erica Taylor, who is in her 40s, has shared an eyeliner tip to minimise the impact of increased texture, which happens naturally as you get older.

First, Erica, who goes by @ericataylor2347 on TikTok, declared that the “drag-and-pull” method “never works out”, referring to the common method of pulling the skin by your eye and then dragging the liner across the lash line.
This technique ultimately leads to “evening out”, which then leads to thicker lines and “making it worse”.
Instead, she recommended looking straight, placing the tip of the liner on the outer edge of your eye. Then, reattach the “flick” with the lash line.
Staying on the base of the lash, press down across the eye, with Erica adding: “Press, press, press is best. It should feel like it’s touching your lash.”

After, you can go back to even out any mistakes. Then, if you so desire, extend the end of the lash line and, before it dries, flick the end with your finger to create a sharper edge.
The makeup artist also urged those willing to experiment with an inner-eye extension, declaring it the “easiest way to elongate the eye”.
One thankful fan rushed to the comments to thank Erica for her tip, saying: “The pulling never works, and I can never figure out what to do. Thanks for this!”
Meanwhile, a 44-year-old commented: “I’ve been doing this for years, and I can confirm this is accurate.
Some have insisted that the 'drag-and-pull' method still works

“When I want to be fancy, I add a bit in the inner corner - people always tell me my eyes are the first thing they notice”.
However, others insisted that the original method “still works” - and they have been using it since school.
“I am definitely going to have to practice this,” another fan weighed in, keen to try out the new technique.
“I’ve never worn my eyeliner like this before, but I always liked the look, so practice, practice for me.”
