'Less is always more,' the beauty guru told followers

During the summer months, plenty of beauty fanatics are on the hunt for a lighter, more sheer look to complement a picnic in the park, or a barbecue in the garden.

And, during the pandemic, it suddenly became all the rage to gently complement your complexion with toned-down, subtle makeup, which is why many dial down their routine look nowadays.

After makeup artist and beauty guru Carmindy Bowyer received "a lot" of messages asking her about ways to do eye makeup during the summer months, the influencer gave in and divulged followers in her expertise.

As a result, she took to TikTok to share some words of wisdom, running her fans through the "super easy look".

"Less is always more," she instructed, explaining how her routine during the summer months often simply involves just two products: eyeshadow and mascara.

However, Carmindy warned women over 50 against deploying a classic makeup product that might take many by surprise: eyeliner.

"Skip eyeliner because it's too harsh during the summer and, instead, use an eyeliner brush to pick up a dark contour shade and lightly smudge this just at the outer corners of the lashes," she explained.

And, then, complete the look with some black mascara on the lashes. Carmindy explained that, although this is a look with less makeup, it certainly delivers higher impact.

She added that it was "perfect" for those looking for a "natural look-alternative" - and her followers were clearly fans of the look, with plenty rushing to the comment section to gush over her appearance.

One fawned over the look, calling her "stunning", while another commented below marvelling that the routine was "gorgeous".

Previously, beauty enthusiasts have explained that more mature women might want to consider a lighter shade for lining their eyes to maintain a level of subtlety to their look.

This rule of thumb echoed the same of professional experts at L'Oreal, who said: "Traditional black eyeliner can sometimes look too stark on mature skin.

"Instead of ditching your eyeliner altogether, try swapping your go-to black for a dark brown shade - it’ll provide definition without overpowering your features," the gurus suggested.
