As you get older, it might be time to throw out certain makeup products that you have adored for decades in favour of new, more suitable products.
With your complexion evolving as you age, it might be necessary to look towards the new, more subtle products to complement your visage - but it might be a bit of a challenge to find what makes you radiant.
Thankfully, makeup guru and cosmetologist Mimi, who goes by @mimiknowsmakeup on TikTok, has given a helpful tip to women over 50, advising that it might be time to banish harsher shades from your makeup bag.
"There’s no denying that eyeliner makes a huge difference," Mimi shared. "We're not wearing black eyeliner anymore, ladies, because we're too old for that.

"We need something a little bit more subtle."
Instead, she firmly declared: "Take the black eyeliner, throw it away, and get yourself some of these." Using creamy eyeshadows in the shades chocolate and plum was best for more mature ladies, Mimi said.
Her advice has echoed the same of professional experts at L'Oreal. "Traditional black eyeliner can sometimes look too stark on mature skin.
"Instead of ditching your eyeliner altogether, try swapping your go-to black for a dark brown shade - it’ll provide definition without overpowering your features," the gurus suggested.

Sharing her routine with followers, Mimi first lays the chocolate pencil on its side and gently sweeps it across her lash line, tapping it gently into place. Then, she uses her finger to smudge the line, before going over the line again.
After, she lines her lower waterline with the deep plum shade and then finishes her “easy and fast” summer eye look.
However some of her followers were tentative to put the age-old product down. “Blondes may not need dark eyeliner, but brunettes do,” one user weighed in.

Meanwhile, others offered different methods, with one sharing: “I can still do a nice cat eye and look fab!”
A more daring fan shared their more garish look, saying: “I’m 40. I Just bought screamingly electric blue eyeliner. I wear that and bright purple more than anything!”
Still, Mimi had plenty of support for her advice, with one follower sharing that she had been wearing brown since her 20s and is now in her 50s. “So much nicer - black is so harsh,” she said.
Another almost-40-year-old said: “I’m very pale and I don’t use black liners ever. The softer colours are where it’s at. These are gorgeous colours.”
