If you're looking to revamp your appearance cheaply and easily, makeup can provide an instant solution.
You may need to reconsider your application as you age, though, as the techniques you used in your 20s, 30s and 40s may not work in your more mature years as you develop signs of ageing.
One makeup artist and former model shared the lip liner hack she recommends for women in their 50s, 60s and beyond. It takes just seconds and provides a plumping effect.
The skin care experts at Paula's Choice explained what can happen to the lips over time. As collagen, fat pads and muscles "diminish", the lips become "thinner and more visibly lined".
The redistribution of soft tissue can result in a "flatter" look, while a reduction in blood vessels in the lip vermillion weakens colour, leading to a "drained" appearance.

Taking to TikTok, Morgen Schick, now 60, recommended using a nude lip liner to create fullness and restore oomph.
Morgen, who goes by @morgenschick on the sharing platform, was 58 when she published her video.
She said: "I want to tell you the number one question I get about being a 58-year-old former model, makeup artist, model, and author. It is the lip hack.
"If you want fuller lips or are in your 50s and 60s and losing the colour in your lips so your lips look smaller, this is the hack for you."
The beauty guru revealed that in her modelling days, makeup artists used to overline her lips with a "waxy" liner - "and you could totally see the wax".
"My hack gives you that same fullness, but you cannot tell that you're overlining," she said.
Some like to enlist the help of professionals when their lips thin with age, and fillers are certainly an option, as long as they are administered safely.
But makeup can also offer a quick fix, making your lips look "as full as possible". To achieve this, Morgen uses a lip stain marker, a makeup product described by L'Oréal Paris as a "must-have".
The beauty enthusiast advised fellow makeup lovers to go for a product that does not leave a waxy residue. Lip liners are waxy, whereas lip stains are generally water-based. She also advised choosing a product in "nude", presumably so it blends into the natural lips.
Using the Lip Stain from Palladio Beauty, Morgen creates an outline just outside her lip line, "as if [she] is contouring".

Next, she uses a pink shade to fill in her lips before going in with her lip gloss, stick, or balm.
While Morgen swears by Palladio Beauty, there are countless makeup products out there that can achieve the same result - just shop around for the best product for you.
For those looking to boost their beauty routine, a second makeup enthusiast warned women about the lipstick mistake that accentuates signs of ageing.
