Drinks that dehydrate the body can leave wrinkles and creases looking more pronounced

While dreading signs of ageing is common, even the smallest of lifestyle changes can minimise wrinkles and sagging.

One content creator claims she discovered significant improvements in her skin after removing alcohol and caffeine from her diet.

Lauren O’Connell recently discussed her skin transformation in a clip titled 'Ageing Backwards at 40 Years Old'.

“There are things that I have changed which I think have impacted both my inner and outer beauty," the influencer declared in the YouTube video.

“This previous year I started listening to my body a lot more, they say that your intuition, my body was saying to me, 'Lauren drinking caffeine, quit the coffee'.

“I would have my two cappuccinos in the morning, and my cappuccino at 2pm, as a little pick me up.

“I loved it, I love the ritual of drinking coffee, I love the way it tastes, I love the way it smells, but I would drink it and feel horrible.

“I did stop drinking it, and I will tell you right away, my skin already looked so much better. It was plumper, it was more beautiful, more radiant, and it just seemed a lot less dry and dehydrated."

Another common culprit that causes the skin to age prematurely is alcohol, so Lauren decided to cut that out too.

Like highly caffeinated drinks, the beverage leads to dehydration, which leaves the skin dry and dull.

Doctor S. Manjula Jegasothy told In Style last month: “The results of drinking too much coffee can cause the skin to wrinkle prematurely and become more lax with time.

“These changes definitely give the skin a more aged appearance than in people who do not consume caffeine.”

Because glowing skin is closely linked with the foods we eat, plant-based antioxidant compounds from green tea are recommended.

Experts at Healthline explain that green tea is particularly high in antioxidants called polyphenols, specifically epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), catechines and gallic acid.

Aesthetica Medical Clinic Dr Saniyya Mahmood told GB News the beverage can also help tighten the skin and boost collagen levels.

According to the expert, other helpful ingredients for boosting collagen include tomatoes, red and green peppers, and green vegetables such as broccoli, kale and Brussels sprouts.
