Fruits with potent nutrients could combat bloating by boosting the body's digestive system

Many resort to supplements to tackle unwanted bouts of bloating, but there may be simpler ways to achieve a flatter stomach.

Gut-healthy foods revered for their medicinal properties help flatten the abdomen by supporting healthier digestion.

Nutritionist Guna Bilande, of Weight Loss Riga, claimed pineapple, ginger and cucumber have a remarkable capacity for combatting signs of bloating.

She said: “Pineapple contains bromelain, an enzyme known for its anti-inflammatory properties.

“This enzyme aids in digestion by breaking down proteins, reducing bloating and discomfort.”

Rich in vitamins C and B6, as well as manganese and dietary fibre, pineapple not only aids digestion but also boosts immunity and promotes overall well-being.

If pineapple isn't to your liking, however, Guna recommends eating more ginger and cucumber instead.

“Cucumbers hydrating and contain enzymes that promote digestion,” the expert explained.

“Meanwhile, ginger boasts anti-inflammatory properties and can soothe the digestive tract easing gas and bloating.”

The high water content of cucumber helps flush out excess sodium and reduce water retention.

It also contains enzymes helpful for efficient digestion, ultimately contributing to a flatter stomach over time.

“Including these powerhouse ingredients into your diet can offer relief from bloating and promote overall digestive wellness,” explained Guna.

“Whether enjoyed separately or combined in refreshing smoothies or salads, pineapples, cucumber and ginger stand as nature’s remedies for a happier, healthier gut.”

She added: “A balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables, particularly those with digestive enzymes like pineapples, cucumber and ginger can work wonders in alleviating bloating and supporting gut health.”

While adding these foods to the diet can protect against the effects of bloating, it is worth noting that they can't tackle belly fat alone.

Choosing the best exercise for your body is great for belly fat loss and it promotes better body composition.

Nader Qudimat, a bodybuilding specialist and consultant at Bodybuilding Reviews told GB News that walking, cycling and yoga are particularly beneficial for targeting the abdominal region.

“When it comes to toning the abdominal muscles, poses that work the core, such as the Plank Pose and the Boat Pose, can be very useful,” the expert explained.
