One distraught fan said it was the 'worst news they've had all week'

McDonald's has quietly removed the Triple Cheeseburger from its UK menu, triggering a wave of customer outrage as fans lashed out over the missing item.

The fast food giant confirmed the discontinuation of the popular item, which had been a menu staple since 2020.

The decision has left loyal customers feeling betrayed, with many taking to X and Facebook to express their frustration. The burger's removal comes as part of McDonald's menu restructuring to accommodate new offerings.

The chain's website now displays an apologetic message to disappointed customers: "Sorry it's gone, but not forgotten."

The Triple Cheeseburger first appeared on menus in 2020, following the successful trial of the Triple-Decker Sandwich. The burger featured three British and Irish beef patties, complemented by a dazzling array of onions, pickles, ketchup, mustard and cheese.

McDonald's defended the decision to remove the item, explaining that they needed to make room for new menu additions, with a spokesman telling The Sun: "We're always evolving our menu with our customers in mind to keep things fresh and exciting."

The fast food chain regularly updates its offerings, removing less popular items while introducing new burgers, desserts and sides to keep customers wanting more.

Social media platforms have been flooded with angry reactions from disappointed customers. One fan posted on X: "McDonald's getting rid of the Triple Cheeseburger in the UK may be the worst news I've had all week."

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

Another frustrated customer declared: "Taking the Triple Cheeseburger off the menu is my last straw - done with McDs."

Meanwhile, a third directly challenged the chain, asking: "Why have you removed the Triple Cheeseburger from the menu? You take that away and instead bring in that way overpriced Big Arch thing."

Over on Facebook, disgruntled users expressed similar disbelief, with one customer writing: "Tell me this is a joke."

The Triple Cheeseburger's removal coincides with McDonald's introduction of five new menu items this week. The Big Arch burger made its debut on June 18, marking the chain's latest attempt to refresh its offerings.

The June offering promises to be the chain's "boldest menu yet", featuring 12 items set to tantalise tastebuds this summer.

Additional items in the June lineup include the Katsu Chicken One wrap and Toffee Apple Pie, with McDonald's promising "irresistible flavours" for customers seeking variety this summer.

Several popular items have also returned to menus across the UK. These include Halloumi Fries, the Toffee Crisp McFlurry, the Cheesy McCrispy and the Toffee Apple Pie.
