Shoppers have taken to social media to express their excitement about the return of the classic treat

A discontinued Cadbury chocolate bar that vanished from UK shelves 17 years ago has made a surprise comeback.

The Cadbury Dairy Milk Slices Shortcake Biscuit chocolate bar, described by fans as "the best ever", is now available at B&M stores across the country.

The beloved treat, featuring Dairy Milk milk chocolate with shortcake biscuit pieces, was originally discontinued in the UK back in 2008, leaving chocolate enthusiasts disappointed.

Now shoppers are rushing to B&M to get their hands on the Australian version of this nostalgic favourite.

The return has sparked excitement on social media, with many expressing their delight at seeing the shortcake biscuit-flavoured chocolate again.

It follows the discontinuation of other Cadbury classics such as Peanut Caramel Crisp bars and Dairy Milk Orange chocolate bars.

Other returning favourites include Cadbury Coins and Dairy Milk Mint Crisp, which were reintroduced as part of Cadbury's 2024 Christmas range.

The Dairy Milk Marble and Dream chocolate bars were also spotted in B&M stores late last year.

Shoppers have taken to social media to express their excitement about the return of this classic treat, with one Facebook user commenting: "Oh I used to love this one in the early 2000s! I missed it so much."

Another enthusiastic fan wrote: "This was literally the s**t!! Off to bnm i go!!" [SIC]

"These were the best ever chocolate," declared a third shopper. One long-time fan noted: "They did this YEARS ago. Like 20+? And I've waited for it to come back."

The nostalgia was clear in another comment: "Omg I dream about this chocolate."

Despite the excitement, Cadbury fans hoping for a permanent return may be disappointed.

A Mondelēz International spokesperson clarified that while the Australian version is available at B&M, it is not directly sold by Cadbury in the UK.

"We discontinued the similar Cadbury Dairy Milk Shortcake Biscuit bar in the UK in 2008, and we have no current plans to bring the product back," they stated.

The spokesperson added: "However, we have plenty of other delicious bars with a little crunch for consumers to choose from, such as the recently launched Cadbury Dairy Milk Biscoff bar and our Cadbury Dairy Milk & More range."
