Customers were devastated when the fan-favourite snack was removed

Aldi has confirmed that its discontinued Specially Selected Prawn Cocktail Crisps will return to stores following customer protests.

The £1.09 snacks, which come in 150g packets, had developed a devoted following before disappearing from shelves.

Aldi's announcement comes after shoppers took to X to voice their dismay at the product's removal.

The crisps had gained cult status amongst customers who described them as "addictive" and pleaded for their return.

One frustrated customer wrote on X: "What's happened to these prawn cocktail crisps? Bring them back, please."

When an Aldi spokesperson confirmed the product had been discontinued, the shopper persisted further, stating: "I've been searching for them - I hate prawns, but these crisps were amazing and addictive."

The outcry wasn't limited to individual complaints, with multiple customers joining the campaign to reinstate the snack.

The strength of feeling prompted Aldi's social media team to initially suggest they would pass the feedback to their buying department.

And the passionate response from crisp enthusiasts appears to have influenced the supermarket's decision to reverse the discontinuation.

The retailer confirmed the crisps will return to shelves later this year, though shoppers will need to wait for an exact date.

Aldi confirmed that its buying team is "working around the clock" to bring back the beloved snack.

The supermarket advised customers to monitor its website or check in stores for updates on availability.

Despite the lack of a confirmed restock date, the announcement has provided relief to fans who feared they had lost their favourite crisp flavour permanently.

Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, Julie Ashfield, commented on the exciting news.

"We always do our best to listen to and meet our customers' requests. These crisps are clearly a fan favourite, so we are excited to bring the flavour back - watch this space," she said.

The reintroduction of Aldi's Specially Selected Prawn Cocktail Crisps comes as the supermarket extends a "hugely popular" range.

The supermarket's Taste of America collection brings distinctly American flavours to British shoppers, including the unique Hot Dog & Onion Crinkle Cut Crisps.

In other supermarket news, the retailer has unveiled a fresh garden range that includes an "ultimate centrepiece".

The brand-new collection includes a three-metre-wide Inflatable Movie Screen priced and an HD LED Projector for outdoor entertaining this summer.

For added comfort, the retailer is also offering an Air Lounger for £9.99, described as "lightweight, compact, and inflatable in seconds".

But shoppers have been warned that it won't be around forever, so act fast if you want to snap it up.
