Partnered with a healthy diet, exercise is a fundamental element of weight loss

A dietician and fitness expert has revealed the simple exercise routine that helped her shed 2st in her 50s, transforming her from overweight and lacking confidence to slim and bikini-ready.

Petra Genco shared her success story alongside four beginner-friendly exercises that helped her on her way to her remarkable weight loss goal.

"Here are four beginner exercises that got me started on my journey to losing 30lbs in my 50s," the workout guru explained, adding: "I also combined this with meals made from whole natural foods."

Her approach combines one-minute exercise intervals with wholesome nutrition, insisting that significant transformation remains achievable even through menopause, a notoriously difficult time to shed extra pounds.

Dumbbell Jacks

The first exercise in Genco's routine is Dumbbell Jacks, which begins with feet together whilst holding a dumbbell in each hand.

The weights should be brought to shoulder height with palms facing inwards. Next, jump the feet out wider than shoulder width whilst simultaneously pressing the dumbbells overhead.

Jump back to the starting position, returning the dumbbells to shoulder height, and repeat the movement quickly and smoothly.

Chair Squat and Elbow to Knee

The second exercise, Chair Squat and Elbow to Knee, involves completing a squat with feet apart whilst raising the arms to the head.

From this position, lower one elbow whilst raising the opposite knee until they touch, then repeat the movement.

Knee raises

The third exercise, knee raises, requires holding onto a chair for support whilst raising one knee as if marching in place. This movement should continue for one minute, alternating between legs.

Stepbacks

The final exercise, stepbacks, begins with feet apart while holding a dumbbell in each hand. Step one foot backwards whilst simultaneously lowering one arm, then return to the starting position.

Each of these four exercises should be performed for one minute and Genco recommends repeating the entire circuit if possible.

However, she further clarified in the comments below her TikTok video that the combination of these accessible exercises with meals prepared from whole natural foods proved the winning formula for her remarkable weight loss.

"I love your workout routines" one enthusiast commented on her posts, while another follower expressed their own aspirations, commenting: "I need some motivation."

However, before attempting to embark on your weight loss journey, it is always wise to consult a medical professional.
