A healthy diet is key for weight loss but some people who follow a nutritious plan may still find themselves struggling to shift the pounds.
For people who already eat reasonably well, an expert shared a small change they can make at every mealtime to slim down.
Portion sizes are to blame for some people, certified personal trainer and owner of Jack City Fitness Marshall Weber told GB News.
When sharing advice on how to burn fat, the fitness expert said: "[Remember] portion control and mindful eating.
Those who are eating well but struggling to slim down should look at portion sizes
GETTY"Watching food portion sizes can make it easier to manage calorie surplus. Mindful eating helps an individual recognise hunger and fullness cues."
If presented with a large portion, many people aim to finish their plate rather than eat until they are hungry.
This could mean eating more calories than you need, which can cause the pounds to slowly creep on.
This comes as a mother-of-three shed nearly eight stone by reducing her portion sizes at the age of 43.
The expert advised dieters to practice mindful eating, meaning stopping when they are full and eating only when hungry.
He said doing this "can assist us in creating healthier eating habits".
Another way to reduce the risk of overeating is to ensure you drink plenty of water and stay hydrated, as dehydration can be mistaken for hunger.
Those looking to lose weight can reduce their appetite and speed up their metabolism by drinking more water. Marshall continued: "Make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep the metabolism in check and curb those hunger pangs.
