A fitness enthusiast has shared her best-kept secrets with those looking to sculpt the perfectly toned arms

Arms are a notoriously tricky part of the body to slim down, since spot reduction is not possible.

This can be a source of frustration for many who spend hours at the gym, yet many fitness fanatics believe that with the right approach, anything is possible.

Jasmine McLeish routinely lifted heavy weights at the gym in hopes of transforming her arms, but despite her dedication to heavy weightlifting, she never got the results she craved.

Fortunately for the TikToker, however, this changed the moment she ditched the weights for pilates.

“I naturally carry more weight on my bottom half,” she told viewers. “I have always been active in the gym, so I wasn’t building muscle from zero, and it took me almost two years to get here.”

After two years of hard work, Jasmine is flooded with compliments about the shape of her arms.

“I get the most compliments on my arms. My arms have not always looked like this," she shared.

“You guys are going to hate to hear it, but one thing that will help define your arms is to lose fat all over your body, and you do that in a calorie deficit.

She explained that the key to her transformation was creating a calorie deficit to reduce body fat across her entire body.

“I had to lose weight overall to even see the definition of my arms,” she said. “I used to lift really, really heavy, but I stopped for nine months when I was losing weight, and I lost a lot of that muscle.

“All of the muscle that I have now built has honestly been through a lot of pilates. For over a year and a half now, I don’t lift super heavy anymore; I do a lot of pilates, or HIIT pilates.

"It’s a lot of bodyweight. It’s a lot of one to three-pound dumbbells. Yes, I did still have some muscle from when I was lifting really heavy weights."

She added that she firmly believes that no amount of heavy lifting matters as long as you have a layer of fat covering the muscle underneath.

But by prioritising nutrition and overall fat loss first, pilates can tone up and define what's revealed.

“This is the best my arms have looked, because I was bulky. Genuinely, no matter how much you’re working at the gym, no matter how much weight you are lifting at the gym, it doesn’t matter," Jamine noted. “You will never see really long and toned arms if you have a layer of fat over them.

“They say that abs are made in the kitchen, and honestly, I think your entire body is first made in the kitchen, and then the gym, pilates is there to one it all up.”
